This class would be around disco. So we had to dress 70’s… That’s pretty difficult if you don’t have any of those clothes and don’t have time to go shopping. Just 2 days between this class and the previous and I had to get some Angel Game gifts as well…
Anyway: we arrived at the location. Lenore and me made sure we were last to arrive because we had a little surprise. Together with all of the participants we raised some money to buy out teacher a new boombox. Hers was broken so we couldn’t get any classes outside. Normally we would have given it last lesson already, but the mail company was a bit slow. It took a while before we found something affordable but still quality material but we managed. We hid the boombox in the car, filled in a questionnaire and went to the dancing room downstairs. Suddenly, the teachers’ husband, who co-ordinates the Guardian Angel game). He had “forgotten” one gift last lesson and wanted to correct it. So he came in with the boombox. The teacher was stupefied! She just didn’t know what to say, how to act… Maybe it didn’t feel comfortable for her to get this so unexpected but it sure felt good to see the pure joy of receiving the gift on her face!
So after some resetting the internal buttons, the class could begin!
Warming-up
We did our warm-up with some journey trough all kind of movements and of course our body-tapping (we will rock you) and “the wall”. During this session of body-tapping the feeling of being powerful came back. God, I feel great during this song. Nothing can hurt me; I can take on the entire world if necessary.
After last lesson we added some more movements to the theatrical dance of “the wall”. Last lesson we stopped at the woman fighting back the men. So during this class we added these movements:
Everybody starts fighting
Everyone crawls back behind their own wall
Everyone kicks/hits their own wall to pieces.

Disco
The topic of this class was disco music. We got an explanation about the evolution of music. From the anti-war movement during the 60’s (make peace not war), through the flower-power (who cares, lets get stoned), to the disco music (getting stoned isn’t the answer, so let’s start having fun again. But only superficial; without depth)
We began by learning the way disco-moves were designed. Keep on “bouncing” all of the time (bending knees), keep nodding the head and imitate “daily” activities (we actually used flight care instructions, making cake, withdrawing cash from register etc).
When these simple things were explained we were divided into couples and had to find 4 moves to tell a “disco-story”. I teamed up with Lenore. Our story was: “hey, nice to meet you” – “wanna have sex” – “no, thank you” – fight
And for expressing the fight we actually used parts from maculele, the machete-dance-fight in Capoeira… hehehe people were impressed by it. While in fact maculele is quite easy to do (using wooden sticks in stead of real machetes if you’re a novice) it can look awesome.
After this we started dancing real disco. And boy, it was hard for me… Somehow I just couldn’t grasp the essence of the music. I mean, I like to listen to it. But dancing to it… I tried and failed
Oh well… I can perfectly live with myself not being able to dance disco ROTFLMAO.
The teacher whispered in my ear that she knew why I sucked at disco-swing. And that she wasn’t surprised at all. LOL. Getting compliments because you CAN’T do something is a really weird experience.
Guardian Angel Game
After the class we received our gifts. For my protégé I had to bring a gift of “smell”. So I gave my protégé some incense of strawberries. The strawberries have a special meaning too and I hope my protégé will remember the first gift I gave him/her. From my Guardian Angel I received a scented candle. Simple but beautiful and a very nice smell.
For my Angel I had to design something around romance. So I made a poem for him/her, printed with a single red rose on the background.
From my protégé I received a romantic gift. And wow! If he/she would be my lover it would have been a direct hit into my heart! I do realize that my protégé puts a lot of effort in his/her gifts.
Some people regards the Guardian Angel game as superficial and don’t put much effort in it. Some people have received stupid or plain wrong gifts. I can truly say that NONE of my gifts was wrong, superficial or off-the-point. I guess I am extremely lucky with both my Guardian Angel and my protégé!
Epilogue
After the class Lenore and I went straight home. I text-messaged a while with the teacher. Because for the next class we have to find ourselves a song that represents our own essence. I think we will have to dance it while the rest will have to guess what feelings we have with it. And there lays one of the problems. My TRUE song shows my hidden side and has deep meaning. Other songs that deeply describe my feelings are about the situation with Lenore. And I don’t want to create an offensive feeling with her because of a stupid song. I don’t want to explain to everyone what I went through and make her feel attacked. So I decided to use my true song: the song by Zornik (see here ). In the clip a cross-dresser sings and reveals himself with the word “scared” on his chest. In short, the lyrics are about how the others are scared by him and are looking only for fear and hurt. They appear to be scared by the unknown, but in fact they are frightened by their own feelings… The teacher said it might be a good opportunity to come out of the closet entirely. But I don’t like that… I have absolutely no need to go public with my cross-dressing… The whole cross-dressing is more about feeling than about showing for me. I KNOW I look ridiculous in a dress… but it feels different… But no, if I don’t cross-dress in front of my best friends, who support me, who (try to) understand me, who never sentenced me for it… If I don’t use the chance to dress in a cross-dresser group, where I wouldn’t look any more ridiculous than the rest… why would I do it for people that I only know for a short time?
Ah well… we’ll see how things go…
I also had a conversation with Sage about my cross-dressing and the reason why I do it. But that’s something for another post…
