Is cross dressing specifically sighted in Deuteronomy 22 vs 5 and 6, it was originally written with words like "keli" "gerber" keli suggesting hard or ceramic, gerber meaning a specific type of man, possibility military or a man of war. It is a verse that seems to be speaking not of general people or general clothing , but of specific clothing in a specific situation. The term gerber is carried to the next verse where it is this special man, one of battle or war, that is not to wear the feminine clothing. The verse seems to be referring to a specific cultural event that involved the exchange of soldier's armor for women's clothing. This action, probably the event angered God.

I have prayed for insight about this particular scripture many times and I believe that God has no problem with my cross dressing., as I am not an old testament Jewish man of war, and I am not dressing in anyone elses , let alone a woman's, clothing , I see no prohibition with this verse. As a Christia I am thrilled that I have a living Savior Jesus Christ whom I can pray to at any time and he gives me answers to these questions. But the bible says that He likes man to search out the "deep things of god"

The bible says that our righteousness (the things we do to keep us in right standing with God), is like filthy rags, therefore I cannot tell anyone that there cannot be anything wrong with cross dressing, but I think that it is like most other things, the possible wrongness is associated with attitude , or intent , or the possible fantasy or imaginations used, not the harmless actions of men wearing clothing that was likely originally meant for men, but is now meant for women ,and likely in the future will be worn by both,

There may be Christians hung up on cross dressing, or maybe some other sort of behavior, but that is not why Christ came., He said,"i have come to set the captives free. " He said that he came that we "might have life and have life more abundantly. "

I believe that if this were a non issue for both the church and for our society , we would already be closer to God's will for us.

Chist did not come to judge, neither should we.

As a Christian - although I wouldn't say practising - I believe in God and I believe in Jesus and I believe in Heaven BUT I don't believe in Man. Everything that is written, be it the Bible or Crossdressing for Dummies is "interpreted" by man and written down - how can a benevalent God who forgives so much decide that if I want to wear a dress (which is very little different to a priests hammock (or smock??)) that I am not worthy? It is, and always will be man that decides what is wrong and right and only then by a minority opinion - that of the person putting the ink on the paper. Sorry - just my opinion..........we are still allowed those aren't we ???

I am sorry. I do appreciate your comments on your view. But I do not agree with them.

First of all, I do not believe in a God that intervenes with the lives of humans.
Secondly, I do not believe the Bible should be taken litterally. It is 2000 years old. You cannot expect it to be in the same words as the original.
Thirdly, The bible wasn't written untill several decades after the life and death of Jesus. You cannot expect the memory of the writers to be infallable. (if those writers even knew Jesus personal)
Four, if a god does judge people rather on their choice of garment than on their intentions in their heart, I will not worship him. I cannot worship any god that would convict anyone that lives a perfect life of Goodness but for the fact that he dresses as a girl. Same for good people that do not believe in him. (Or do you really believe Ghandi was sentenced to hell because he didn't believe in the catholic church? Or Buddha, or anyone else that lives a life of servitude?)
Five, How can you say that one belief is the "true one" and worshippers of all other are bound to go to hell. Every radical religion or cult uses that argument. How can you be sure you picked the right one?
Six, following the bible, is that following God or is that following the church? The Bible and the church are creations of mankind. And therefore are prone to make mistakes... The four gospels were chosen by the Councils of Carthage, not by God himself... Therefor, the Bible is the word of Man, not of God.

I am sorry, I am a Taoist. I believe in balance, not in an interventionist God. I live my life how I see it fit. I help people because I think I need to do it. I do not do that out of fear of hell, out of obediance to some God or for the prospect of a ticket into heaven. When I die, I will only have to give a reckoning to one (yes 1) entity: myself.
If I die and I feel I had a good life, than I did. I stand by all choises I made in my life. To doubt myself is to deny myself. To tell other people how to behave (via peaching, books, scriptures or whatever) is Hubris. It is arrogance. No-one has the right to tell other people how to live their lives (except for rules and laws to prevent society from collapsing eg. forbidden to murder etc)
I do believe Jesus has lived. I do believe he was a wise man. But so were Mohammed, Buddha and other great minds. Thy were wise, but they were human. None of them was more divine than any of us...
But ofcourse, that is just my oppinion. Who am I to declare that I know the right answer? Who am I to try to convince others to start believing what I believe?

From a Christian perspective are trans gendered people ever going to be accepted? I don’t think so. I have been struggling with this issue off and on for years and I have studied it extensively over the past two years. We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. The whole book of First John gives us a really good indication as to what a saved person looks like versus the unsaved. 1 cor 6:9-11 is brutally honest about how things are in Gods economy. “Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God. What the heck am I as a crossdresser supposed to do with this verse? Either in Greek or English it says the same thing. Any who fall into these categories are screwed and we all as human beings fall into these categories. We are born in sin period. We are fallen people born to fallen parents living in a fallen world. I was born to alcoholic parents and through nature or nurture was given an effeminate heart. I lied to myself about my condition and over compensated to the extreme to all the world I was a mans man, but in my heart i was half and half. I drank and fornicated treating women like dogs and became the very thing I hated. Now at forty five by the grace of God through faith in Christ I am no longer any of those, but now the struggle with my feminine side enters the fray. Can i present myself to the world as a woman and not be in sin? Once again if I do this I become a liar and will not inherit the kingdom. I repented of alcoholism and it left me I repented of blasphemy(using God’s name as a cussword} and I only occaisionally slip up. The honesty thing is getting tough because if I deny that these feelings exist then I lie to protect my name and if I go with them i lie to the world about my gender. God is sovereign and does not make mistakes. I was given a penis for a reason. I was given my psyche for a reason. He in his mercy has seen fit to save me through the death and resurection of His son Jesus. The point of this rambling tirade is this: If I as an individual am so conflicted about this then how can the church and it’s people not be conflicted about this. For my own salvation I have chosen to err on the side of caution. I will not crossdress publically or privately because I do not want to grieve God by my actions. This life is short. Christ specifically says if you love me keep my commandments. Obedience is God’s love language. It is my personal conviction that if I deny myself and take up my cross daily then better things lie ahead. We as Christians Should put what God wants ahead of our own desires. We should then place the needs of others ahead of ourselves. Lastly our own wants and needs come into play. What has bothered me about most of the posts in the Christian section of this blog is that it is all about me. How can I make God fit into what I want? You can’t He created you and He decides the rules. Practicing GLBT’s may find acceptance in churches where the word of God isn’t being preached, but they will never find acceptance where it is. It is not the people who are intolerant of these things it is simply that God’s word is extremely plain about it. Repentant GLBT’s will find acceptance and help with the struggle. Food for thought. I was born with a predisposition to be a drunk. Science has found a genetic link to alcoholism. Since I was born that way does it mean I should have the rights and privileges under the law to act however I want, even to the point of redefining tolerance in our society to mean everyone must validate my drunkeness or be guilty of a hate crime? No that is preposterous. Yet the GLBT’s want everyone to validate them. Reality says it’s not going to happen. We are tolerated that is for the most part allowed to chose how we live. Just because I was born with the desire to act like a girl does not give me the right to inflict it on those who are uncomfortable with it. For this life I have been given a role to play. That role is male. I may not like it but if I am going to honor the One who created me I must accept it and know in heaven I may be female, or Heaven will be so amazing that none of this matters. As a man who has struggled with this issue for forty years I am not unsypathetic. I love all of you and understand that all of us have struggled with this. God’s word says what it says and we obey or disregard it. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What you offer here has inspired me. I need to do as you did and share my thoughts and feelings here as well. For I agree with you and relate. Since I was a little kid I have dressed up yet, I don't want to be a women. Not permanently. I like being both. What I see here, you do too. Very cool. Thank you for sharing.

I claim some differences from you. To me, it's a combination of "I want to be a woman" and "skirts are just more comfortable than pants." I like to dress up, and I go the whole nine yards. Hopefully if my friend cooperates she'll teach me how to put on makeup, which has me excited. I also wear false breasts and clothes that help shape my body. I suppose part of it is the thrill of changing. Things are so boring left as they are, it's a bit of fun to just shake stuff up. Changing something as basic as gender is about as shaken up as you can get. Passing to me is important, and if I could that would be amazing. As far as surgery, I'm not sure if I'd go through with that. Maybe if it was financially easy, but I dunno.

Come to think of it, I don't know if I'm so much a crossdresser as I am transgendered.

I claim some differences from you. To me, it’s a combination of “I want to be a woman” and “skirts are just more comfortable than pants.” I like to dress up, and I go the whole nine yards. Hopefully if my friend cooperates she’ll teach me how to put on makeup, which has me excited. I also wear false breasts and clothes that help shape my body. I suppose part of it is the thrill of changing. Things are so boring left as they are, it’s a bit of fun to just shake stuff up. Changing something as basic as gender is about as shaken up as you can get. Passing to me is important, and if I could that would be amazing. As far as surgery, I’m not sure if I’d go through with that. Maybe if it was financially easy, but I dunno.

I am a non passable, hetero, full crossdresser. No girl name, full beard, body hair, tall, big feet. I dress for for sexual stimulation but stometimes not. Married, wifes knows, but I rarely fully dress in front of her. This is for my pleasure.

I can relate to everything you said. I think you actually represent the majority of crossdressers.

The only reason I used the 'Hilary' name was for initial identity protection.
I've always feel like I'm Mike, no matter what I wear.

I can pretty easily play computer games "dressed up", but I don't have to. Sometimes I play crossdressed, sometimes I don't.

I don't dress up to arouse myself or other men either. I just think its fun to wear woman's clothing, sort of like a relaxing hobby.

I think it's great that you embrace and you openly share what you love with crossdressing. Keep it up.

I guess you are not a crossdresser in the sense it is generally understood. What you do is certainly crossdressing but it is still devoid of the essential sexual undertones that the term has come to acquire. It is perhaps one of those terms whose connotation overrides their literal meaning. So, perhaps you are not a 'crossdresser' at all. Just an 'ambi-dressor' or 'omni-dresser' -- take your pick. No offense or pun intended.
